BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP
Spencer Manufacturing Inc. was founded in 1986 by Brian Spencer as Spencer Repair Service.
As a volunteer fireman himself, the one-man shop repaired and rebuilt specialty vehicles from a pole barn, quickly gaining a reputation for excellence and reliability.
After 16 years of steady growth and deep rebuild experience, Spencer Repair Service grew into Spencer Manufacturing, relocating into a 26,000-square-foot facility and shifting its primary focus to fire truck apparatus design and build. Spencer Manufacturing's high-quality builds, client-centric customer service, and laser-focused attention to detail led to exponential growth and placed the growing company firmly as a trusted partner in the industry. The pride, attention to detail, and the value that was placed in every relationship within the business was the foundation of what made Spencer Manufactuing what it is today. The name became synonymous with reliability and expertise.
Today, the next generation is carrying on the legacy that their father started so many years ago. Under Grant, Garrett and Quintin Spencer's leadership, Spencer Fire Trucks continues to provide departments across the nation with superior, fully customized trucks designed and built with crews in mind. In 2024, the company reached another milestone with the completion of a 40,000-square-foot expansion constructed to meet rising demand.

Spencer Fire Trucks is proud to call South Haven, Michigan home. Nestled where the Black River meets the shores of Lake Michigan, our town is rich in both agricultural and maritime heritage—a place where hard work, resourcefulness, and community spirit run deep.
Before founding Spencer Manufacturing in 1986, Brian Spencer was a strawberry farmer and volunteer firefighter, deeply connected to the land and the people of this region. In his spare time, he began repairing the fire department’s fleet—work that would eventually grow into a full-time passion and lifelong business.
That same hands-on dedication and hometown pride still shape every truck we build today. From our facility in South Haven, we continue Brian’s legacy of purpose-driven craftsmanship, building fire and rescue apparatus that departments across the nation can count on.
