Spencer Manufacturing, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Brian Spencer as Spencer Repair Service.

As a volunteer firefighter himself, Brian began repairing and rebuilding specialty vehicles out of a small pole barn in South Haven, Michigan, quickly earning a reputation for quality work, reliability, and attention to detail.

Years of hands-on rebuild experience gave Spencer a deep understanding of how fire apparatus performs in the real world — and how departments actually operate. As demand grew, Spencer Repair Service evolved into Spencer Manufacturing, shifting its focus toward designing and building custom fire apparatus.

That same practical, department-focused approach continues to guide the company today.

What started as a one-man repair shop has grown into a national custom fire apparatus manufacturer serving departments across the country, while remaining family-owned and independently operated.

Under the leadership of Grant, Garrett, and Quintin Spencer, the company has expanded its manufacturing footprint, doubled its workforce, and tripled production — all while staying committed to building trucks around the unique operational needs of each department.
