Sunman Rural Fire Department Tanker Delivered

Spencer Fire trucks recently delivered a new Tanker to the Sunman Rural Fire Department in Sunman, Indiana, enhancing the department’s ability to serve its rural community. The tanker was built on a Freightliner 114SD chassis and features a Spencer aluminum body backed by a lifetime warranty. The apparatus is powered by a Cummins L9 diesel engine producing 450 horsepower and is equipped with a Hale DSD 1,000-gallon-per-minute pump and a 3,000-gallon water tank. Additional features include a Whelen™ Core control system, full warning and emergency lighting, and a siren and speaker package. Designed with operational efficiency in mind, the tanker also includes electric dump valves on the side and rear, ROM™ roll-up doors, and through-the-tank pike pole and suction hose storage. The new apparatus reflects Spencer Firetrucks’ commitment to building durable, high-quality fire apparatus tailored to the needs of volunteer fire departments and rural communities.

Sunman, located in Ripley County in the northeastern corner of the state, is home to approximately 1,500 residents. Known for its strong sense of community and local traditions, it is home to the annual Fireman’s Festival. The Sunman-Raul Fire Department is an all-volunteer department protecting the rolling hills and farmland of the surrounding area.
