Richmond Township Fire Department recently placed its new custom Spencer apparatus into service, which the department says is the first Michigan-manufactured fire truck to serve in the Upper Peninsula.

Built by Spencer in South Haven, the apparatus replaces a truck that served the department for more than 30 years and features 1,750 gallons of onboard water along with corrosion-resistant Solid-POLY™ construction.

TV6 & FOX UP spoke with Richmond Township Fire Chief Dan Novak about the new apparatus and what it means for the department.
